Dutch supermarket retailer Laurus has said it is to cut a further 360 jobs as part of its ongoing plan to restore longer-term profitability to the company.

The company plans to reduce its workforce at company offices from around 1,056 to 840 by the end of the second quarter of 2004. This includes the restructuring of the company’s finance and administration department, reported Dow Jones Business News.
The number of jobs at offices attached to distribution centres will be reduced by 69, to around 255.
Further job cuts will result from the closure of the company’s Apeldoorn and Hertogenbosch distribution centres by the end of the first quarter of 2004.
Laurus said the proposed measures are expected to yield total annual savings of around €14m-16m (US$15.6m-17.8m).
