Marks and Spencer has remained coy on speculation that it is looking to enter the Netherlands and that it is considering cities including Rotterdam and The Hague.
According to reports in The Independent, if the retailer secures a site in the Netherlands, the expansion will run alongside its plans to re-enter France.
A spokesperson for the retailer told just-food today (3 May) that it “does not comment on rumours or speculation”.
Just over a month ago, M&S announced plans to launch a bricks-and-clicks strategy in France, with a flagship store set to open on the Champs-Elysées ahead of the Christmas trading period. It also plans to open a number of Simply Food stores operated by franchise partner SSP.
The announcement came a decade after the retailer pulled out of Continental Europe.
