Royal Numico has announced the sale of its Coeliac business to Dr Schär Srl, an Italian family-owned company that is the leading European player in the gluten-free food products sector, for an undisclosed sum.


The divesture, Numico said, is the outcome of a strategic evaluation that the company began in August.


The Coeliac business manufacturers gluten-free nutrition products. The decision to exit this market was driven by an assessment of the company’s competitive position and its fit within Numico’s clinical nutrition portfolio.


The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
