Dutch food and nutrition company Royal Numico has announced that it has signed a letter of intent for the sale of Unicity Network to Activated Holdings, a private investment company.
The transaction is subject to the completion of a definitive agreement and is expected to occur in the second quarter of 2003.
Unicity Network is a multilevel marketing organisation specialised in nutritional supplements and personal care products, based in Utah in the US. Sales amounted to €208m (US$224.5m) in the first nine months of 2002.
Jan Bennink, CEO of Numico, said: “The divestment of Unicity is in line with our strategy to focus on our core activities of babyfood, clinical nutrition and GNC, as announced in November 2002.”
