Italian-Dutch confectionery producer Perfetti Van Melle has said it is to cut 200 out of 1,400 jobs at various locations in the Netherlands.

The job cuts are part of a reorganisation plan, which also includes moving the company’s production activities to Poland and Russia in order to cut costs.

Perfetti Van Melle, which makes the confectionery brands Fruitella, Mentos and Meller, plans to move production of Meller confectionery to Russia from Breda in the Netherlands. The company’s facility in Zaandijk in the Netherlands will be closed and production moved to the factory in Hoorn, also in the Netherlands.

The company’s Verduijn factory in Breskens, southern Netherlands, will be sold to Dutch company Napoleon, reported the Dutch News Digest.
