Dutch meat giant Vion has received approval from the European Commission for its acquisition of Weyl.

Vion announced last month that it would buy parts of bankrupt local beef processor Weyl Beef Products.

The business was declared bankrupt in May but Vion said it would restart operations with “a limited number of permanent staff in indirect positions at the company”.

Vion is now expected to detail how to incorporate the firm’s assets into its beef activities.
