Dutch food company Koninklijke Wessanen has appointed Ad Veenhof as its new chief executive officer.


Veenhof previously held the position of chief executive officer at Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care.


Veenhof will replace Mac Zondervan who will step down on 1 July after 29 years with the company.


The company recently reported a fall in first-quarter net income to €1m (US$1.1m), compared to €7.2m in the year-ago period.


The company’s net sales fell to €614.8m from €682.2m in the year-ago period, although at constant exchange rates Wessanen’s sales were up to €714.1m.
