Wessanen, the Netherlands-based food group, said today (23 April) that interim CEO Frans Koffrie would continue to lead the company for another year.

The group, which yesterday announced it will start a review on whether to exit all its North American businesses, said the company’s board of directors had backed Koffrie as leader at its AGM.

Koffrie took the reins at Wessanen after Ad Veenhof stepped down as CEO after differences over the company’s furture direction.

At the AGM, Wessanen’s board also approved the reappointment of Durk Jager as chairman.

Wessanen’s review of its North American businesses comes as it plans to focus on natural, organic and speciality food products in Europe.

Wessanen previously announced a review of the business in February to sell its US based drinks company American Beverage Corporation.

The company said it will now start an investigation into exiting all of its other North American businesses, consisting of the distribution business Tree of Life North America, and the branded businesses Panos Brands and Liberty Richter.
