Arla launches filtered milk drink Klöver

Arla Foods, the Danish dairy giant, has launched Klöver, a filtered milk drink which it says will cut down on food waste.

The product, launched in Sweden, uses filtered milk which is left over in the production of lactose-free products (so-called milk retentate).

Konrad von Otter, category manager for milk at Arla Sweden, said: “Klöver milk drink is a completely new innovation in the milk category. By making use of more parts from our milk production, we reduce food waste.”

Compared to Arla’s regular “intermediate milk,” Klöver is said to have “a little less fat and protein but just as much calcium” and a slightly longer shelf life.

The milk drink is available in 1 litre and 1.5 litre size formats and Arla has recommended that stores set a lower price than for regular milk.
