This week’s batch of new product launches includes a new category from Halo Top, as well as snacks from UK sports nutrition company Maximuscle and nut-butter business Pip & Nut.

Halo Top enters another UK category

The US ice-cream brand has moved into another part of the grocery store in the UK.

A range of five, chilled desserts have been launched in the country, with the products initially available at Tesco.

“We challenge ourselves to constantly innovate at Halo Top, so setting our sights beyond the freezer felt like the next natural step,” Justin Ball, president of Halo Top’s international arm, said. “We’ve also been blown away by the support for the brand in the UK. It only felt right that we chose the UK to be the first place in the world to experience the Halo Top brand outside of the ice cream aisle.”

The Halo Top Chilled desserts, which come in flavours including birthday cake, salted caramel and strawberry cheescake, contain between 135 and 153 calories. They have an RRP of GBP4.

Maximuscle launches protein-rich chocolate dippers

Maximuscle, the UK-based sports nutrition company, has launched Protein Dippers which it described as a healthy snack based on the 1980s KP Choc-Dip product.

Its product is made up of short biscuit sticks and a milk chocolate sauce to dip them in but each dipper tub contains 9.6g of protein (16.8%). There’s also no added sugar, no palm oil and no artificial flavours or colours.

Gareth Nicholas, product development manager at Maximuscle, which is owned by HNC Healthy Nutrition, a subsidiary of German consumer goods giant Kruger, said: “KP Choc-Dips were really popular in the 1980s and a great fun snack so our Protein Dippers will hold a lot of nostalgia for many people.

“We developed it to recognise the growing trend of people wanting to be healthier even when it comes to confectionery with high protein and low sugar key considerations.

Maximuscle Protein Dippers are on sale in Sainsbury’s with a RRP of GBP1.50 (US$1.93).
