UK manufacturer Samworth Brothers has taken its Ginsters Cornish pasty brand into a new part of the store.

Ginsters Bake-from-Frozen pasties are available in Tesco stores from the middle of this month. A “traditional” Cornish pasty and a vegetable-and-onion pasty are available.

“The frozen aisle has seen a huge revival in recent months – consumers are getting busier than ever and having access to great tasting meals that they can keep in their freezer and cook at the end of the day is key,” Ginsters managing director Kieran Hemsworth said.

Both varieties will be available in packs of four at an RRP of GBP3 (US$3.93).

Unilever rolls out Big Night In sauces under Hellmann’s brand

Unilever is introducing a new sauces range to the UK under its Hellmann’s brand to cater to people who are swapping nights out for evenings at home cooking so-called fakeaways.

The Big Night In deli-style bottle range includes four flavour varieties in Pizza (Chilli Garlic Sauce), Chicken (Chilli BBQ Sauce), Mexican (Spicy Sauce) and Kebab (Tzatziki Sauce).

Unilever said the “range has been created based on the insight that consumers, especially those aged 16-35 years, are swapping nights out for nights on the sofa in front of the TV with a takeaway or home cooked fakeaway”.

Andre Burger, the vice president of foods at Unilever UK and Ireland, said: “The ‘big night in’ trend is hard to ignore – millennials and Gen Z are swapping their party wear for pyjamas. We know that a huge part of the ‘big night in’ occasion is food, whether that’s people ordering a takeaway or creating their own fakeaway – food is at the heart of these evenings. Our new range of Big Night In sauces can offer consumers exciting new flavour pairings for dishes that are typically served up on a ‘big night in’ occasion.”

Big Night In are available nationwide in all retail multiples, convenience and wholesale stores at a recommended retail price of GBP1.89 (US$2.47) for a 215-ml bottle.

India’s Marico debuts organic Coco Soul range

India-based consumer goods group Marico is entering the organic category with the launch of a new range of spreads, butters and cooking oils made from coconut.

The Coco Soul range from the Mumbai-based firm, which is leaning toward more health and wellness food categories, is split into two formats. Coco Soul Foods includes Coconut Spread, Peanut Coconut Butter, Almond Coconut Butter, Coconut Chips, and Coconut Sugar.

The Coco Soul oils range takes in 100% organic virgin coconut oil, 100% natural virgin coconut oil and 100% naturally-infused cold pressed virgin coconut oil in three variants: cinnamon, chilli oregano and curry coriander.

Coco Soul Foods contain no preservatives or artificial flavours and are made with only natural ingredients, and are all roasted instead of fried.

Coconut Spreads come in Original, Sea Salt and Cacao flavours, while Peanut Coconut and Almond Coconut Butters offer crunchy and creamy variants. The Coco Soul Coconut chips are made using 100% natural coconuts sourced from Thailand and are available in four flavours: Thai Chilli Lime, Caramel, Original and Chocolate. They can be consumed as a snack or sprinkled on meals.

The Coco Soul Food range will be gradually available in stores over the coming months, while the Coco Soul Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil and infused oils are available in D-Mart, Big Bazaar, Spencers, Godrej Nature’s Basket, Tesco and Foodhall across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, and on major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart and Big Basket.
