New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra has said it plans to divest the dairy industry magazine “Dairy Exporter” as it does not fit with the company’s core business activities.

Dairy Exporter, which started out in 1925, focuses on dairy industry issues and research, and is sometimes nicknamed the ‘bible’ for dairy farmers.

Tony O’Boyle, chairman of Fonterra’s shareholders council, said the company’s decision to put the magazine up for sale was surprising and the council is discussing the nature of the sale process with Fonterra, reported the New Zealand Herald.
