Richard Carver, the chief executive of New Zealand’s largest meat processor and marketer, Richmond, has announced his resignation.

Richmond was recently acquired by unlisted farmer co-operative PPCS after a protracted takeover battle.

A successor has not yet been named, but it is expected that the new chief executive will come from within the ranks of PPCS. Further changes are expected, with speculation rife that the management of the meat companies will be consolidated.

Last month five members of the Richmond board stepped down to be replaced by PPCS board members or associates.
