Norwegian conglomerate Orkla has appointed Arla Foods executive, Christer Åberg, as CEO of its confectionery and snacks business.

Åberg, who is director of Arla’s operations in Sweden, will take up the new role from 1 August. Prior to his current role, Åberg was MD of Finnish group Atria’s business in Scandinavia. He has also held several management positions at Unilever.

He will lead Orkla’s confectionery and snacks business, which was formed as part of the group’s new corporate structure announced in January 2013.

“We are pleased that Christer Åberg has accepted the position of CEO of Orkla Confectionery & Snacks,” said president and CEO Åge Korsvold. “With his long experience of the Nordic and international branded consumer goods business, he has a great deal to offer Orkla.”
