Nutrition & Santé, the French dietary food specialist, is investing EUR20m (US$21.9m) in expanding its ol Revel plant.

EUR10m is earmarked for increasing the production capacity of the existing product range at the plant including ready meals.

The other half has been spent on a new product range,  Grill Végétal – a range of soya-based meat alternatives with wheat and available as steaks, cutlets, pieces and nuggets – which this week has its official launch in French supermarkets.

Nutrition & Sante said there are no immediate plans to launch the new products on international markets..

The investment will add 20 more jobs.

The company has seven production plants, including one each in Spain and Brazil. It employs 1,500 staff and is on course to post a 2015 turnover of EUR415m, up more than 10% on last year.

Last month, Nutrition & Santé, which is owned by Japanese pharmaceuticals group Otsuka, announced plans to acquire Spanish counterpart, Bicentury, subject to regulatory approval.
