Italian fruit and vegetable importer Gruppo Orsero has opened a new packing facility at Molfetta, near Bari in the south of the country.
The new facility will be dedicated to handling and distributing fresh-cut and ready-to-eat produce with a goal to increase production capacity and to serve all areas of southern Italy
Orsero said the new Puglia site, which was built in four months and covers an area of ??about 1,000 sq m, is equipped with the most advanced technologies for cutting fruit.
The new opening follows the creation of a similar packhouse facility in Florence.
Raffaella Orsero, CEO of Orsero, said: “The new plant represents a significant and further step for Orsero and fits perfectly into the group’s commercial development plan, which provides for the localisation of the fresh cut production plants in strategic areas that allow a rapid and widespread service throughout the country, while maintaining a high quality product.”
Orsero said the facility is expected to employ between ten and 50 people, depending on seasonal peaks of activity.
