Lever Brothers Pakistan Ltd will work an extra shift thanks to an end to competition from smuggled goods, according to M. S. Banga, Indian Levers’ chief.

Speaking at a function organised by the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Banga explained that war has put paid to the invisible trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Landlocked Afghanistan has traditionally routed all its imports duty-free through Pakistan under an old treaty, however many of the goods failed to reach their final destination and ended up on the Pakistani black market.
