PepsiCo has opened a food and beverage R&D facility in Dubai.
The global food and beverage giant said the new innovation centre – its first in the Middle East – would serve as a regional “hub” for new product and flavour development.
The facility – located in Dubai’s Biotechnology and Research Park – features and “advanced culinary centre” as well as test laboratories and will allow researchers to test new ideas. The firm said this would “significantly accelerate the pace of PepsiCo’s innovation across the region”.
“The Dubai facility is a game-changer for our business that we anticipate will fast forward our innovation process throughout the entire region,” said Omar Farid, president of PepsiCo’s operations in the Middle East and Africa.
Jan Weststrate, senior vice president R&D PepsiCo Asia, Middle East and Africa, added: “This new innovation centre will also allow our experts in the region to continue driving science, technology and innovation thought leadership.”
