PepsiCo has confirmed job cuts after reports it had closed its department for global marketing procurement.

The Walkers crisps and Quaker cereal maker said the changes were “necessary for us to stay competitive while meeting the future needs of our business”. It did not respond to questions on where the job cuts were made.

Ad Age said last week PepsiCo had eliminated its global marketing procurement team and moved responsibility to individual brands.

The report said the department employed about 12 people and oversaw agency relationships and media.

Last December, PepsiCo cut jobs at its office in Chicago.
