Perfection Fresh Australia has acquired fellow produce group Moraitis in a deal the company said boosts its position in the tomato category.
The agreement includes the licence to the kumato variety, a 4.7 hectare glasshouse in Tatura, Victoria, and access to a “strategically aligned” network of tomato growers. Perfection Fresh stressed the added capacity will “significantly enhance” its ability to serve the Australian market, complementing its existing operations.
Perfection Fresh Australia CEO Michael Simonetta said: “The tomato category has been a major focus for our growth and one of the fastest growing segments globally. We believe that innovation will provide new growth opportunities to create largely untapped demand and ultimately grow the category. We are particularly pleased to add the Kumato to Perfection Fresh’s carefully selected varietal range.”
