Alliance Tuna International, the Philippines-listed canned tuna maker, has outlined plans to expand into other food categories.
The company said yesterday (27 May) that its board had agreed to change the name of the business to reflect its plans.

The name change, to Alliance Select Foods International, will be voted on by shareholders in July.
Canned tuna accounted for 86% of the group’s sales in the first quarter of 2010, when revenues reached US$12.3m.
Fishmeal generated some 7% of sales. A further 7% came from Prime Foods, a New Zealand smoked salmon firm in which Alliance owns a majority stake.
