General Mills has decided to pull out of the Philippines after its sales in the market missed targets.

The US food group will leave the country by the end of the year, a spokesperson told just-food. “Our business in the Philippines has been challenging,” she said.

General Mills sells products including ice cream flour and baking mixes in the Philippines. It also manages Häagen-Dazs branded cafés.

When asked whether General Mills would look to return to the market in the future, the spokesperson said: “We will remain open to other opportunities in the future – but our current business has simply not met our targets for continuing investment.”
