Auchan has launched an online grocery delivery service in Poland, with the scheme set to initially be offered in seven districts of the capital, Warsaw.
The French retailer, which operates 26 supermarkets and hypermarkets in Poland, said yesterday (9 May) that it has begun taking registrations for the service, with customers to receive information about planned activities and special promotions.
The service will initially be offered in downtown Warsaw and seven districts – Ochota, Mokotów, Zoliborz, Praga Poludnie, Ursynów, Wola and Piaseczna.
According to Euromonitor research, the online retail channel is set to grow in Poland at a CAGR of 14% between 2010 and 2015 to reach PLN12.3bn (US$4.5bn) at constant 2010 prices.
Meanwhile, the research group found that Internet sales of food and drink have grown by some 401.4% between 2005-2010.
