French retail giant Carrefour has confirmed it plans to open 200 franchise stores in Poland this year.

The stores, to operate under Carrefour’s Express banner, will open as either mini-market or convenience stores, the retailer said today (7 July).

The mini-market concept, which operates under a green logo, has a selling space of 100sq m to 400sq m with room for around 3,500 to 6,000 products. The convenience format with orange logo, is smaller with a 50sq m to 100sq m selling space.

The 200 stores will all open by the end of 2012, the retailer said. Carrefour operates 150 stores under the Express banner in Poland.
