French food giant Danone has opened a second distribution centre in Poland, dedicated to fresh dairy products.
The group’s Polish unit has leased a 4,000 sq.m facility in Chorzów, near Katowice, in order to serve the growing consumer market in the south of Poland.
The running of the centre has been outsourced to global logistics specialist, Kuehne + Nagel.
By the end of 2007, operations in the chilled warehouse (4 °C), will be additionally supported by modern voice-picking technology designed to enable high order preparation productivity levels and efficient replenishment processes.
Kuehne + Nagel already manages Danone’s distribution centre located in Blonie, near Warsaw, which serves central and north Poland.
