Post Holdings has launched a line of Shredded Wheat cereals in the US containing granola clusters.

As with Post’s other Shredded Wheat products, the company is seeking to emphasise the health credentials of the new product. The packaging for the new cereal contains the claim “Post Shredded Wheat Crunch may help reduce the risk of heart disease”.

The cereal contains no trans fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol. Each one cup serving contains 43g of whole grain and 5g of fibre.

“Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods, and low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. Based on the nutritional profile of this cereal, we’ve shared on-box that Post Shredded Wheat Crunch may help reduce the risk of heart disease when combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle,” Mangala D’Sa, Post’s senior director of marketing, told just-food.
