Two Danone brands, Actimel and Activia, topped the list of the most-promoted food brands in the UK in November, according to the latest just-food Promo Tracker.
Over 88% of Actimel SKUs on sale at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Ocado were on promotion last month, data compiled by mysupermarket-insights.co.uk showed.
Activia was the next most-promoted food brand. Over 71% of its SKUs were sold at a discount in November.
Pringles, the snack brand owned by Procter & Gamble, and two owned by Premier Foods plc – Batchelors soup and Homepride cooking sauces – made up the top five brands sold most often on promotion.
Tesco was the only retailer of the four included in the Promo Tracker to reduce the number of promotions in November, although like its rivals, the average saving a customer could make per promotion rose.
The biggest jump in promotions came at Ocado. The online retailer had 13.7% of its SKUs on promotion in November, compared to 9.9%. An Ocado customer could have made an average saving of GBP1.09 when shopping with the retailer, compared to GBP0.40 in October.
