Hay 2000, a Romanian subsidiary of food company Alka, is set to begin operations in a new biscuit plant next month. The custom built plant, which is expected to produce 200 tonnes of biscuits every month, a figure eventually rising to 500 tonnes, is situated in Stei, Bihor County, Romania.
The US$2.8m plant is the result of a long-term investment plan, through which a total of US$4.5m will be spent to boost output and diversify the company’s product range.
Together with a so far unidentified German company, Alka has plans to build another new plant in Prahova County, Romania.
