Russian hypermarket operator Carousel has invested US$30m to open two hypermarkets in St. Petersburg, the company revealed yesterday (8 November).

The openings brought the number of Carousel hypermarkets to 13, ten of which are located in the St Petersburg and Leningrad regions, two of which are situated in Moscow and one in Nizhny Novgorod.
The company said in a press release that it plans to open six more hypermarkets in St Petersburg, Moscow and Izhevsk before the end of the year.
