French retail giant Carrefour has opened its second hypermarket in the Russian market in the southern city of Krasnodar.
The hypermarket is the second of Carrefour’s three planned openings in the country this year.
The outlet has 8,500 square metres of selling space and carries 15,000 food products as well as 30,000 non-food items.
The opening coincides with reports that the company has frozen its Russian hypermarket expansion project.
The French retailer declined to comment specifically on the rumours, but a spokesperson told just-food that the company remained “absolutely committed” to the Russian market.
