Russian meat producer Cherkizovo OJSC has commissioned a new slicing line at its Cherkizovsky meat-processing plant in a bid to expand its sliced meat product offering.
A spokesperson for Cherkizovo confirmed that the company had doubled its production capacity to 16 tonnes per day.
The Cherkizovsky plant produces sliced sausages, including Prosciutto, Chorizo and Lipetsk Special produced under the Five Stars premium brand.
Cherkizovo also recently launched a sliced format of traditional Russian sausages and hams under the Cherkizovsky brand.
“We will be investing in marketing initiatives to drive demand,” the spokesperson revealed. “We want to grow our sliced meat sales.”

The new packaging will feature prominently on store shelves, the company said.
The products from the new line will be distributed in Moscow, the Moscow region and large cities of the Volga region: Samara, Saratov and Kazan.
“Our meat-processing segment is traditionally well known for its innovation and quick response to the market’s needs. Going forward, we intend to continue delivering high quality products and innovative solutions to our consumers”, Cherkizovo CEO Sergei Mikhailov said.
