Mars is in the process of drawing up plans to build a confectionery plant in Russia, just-food understands.


The US-based food giant is believed to be finalising plans to build a facility in the city of Ulyanovsk.


A spokesman for Mars Russia refused to be drawn on the reports when contacted by just-food this morning (26 July).


Mars, the maker of chocolate brands including Snickers and Bounty is said to be planning to spend US$60m on the Ulyanovsk site.


The company first entered Russia in 1991 and has a confectionery production site in Stupino, south of Moscow.
