RUSSIA: Meat imports during first ten months of 2002 grew 34% year-on-year
Russian imported 896,800 tons of meat in the first ten months of 2002, a jump of 34% compared to the first ten months of last year. The import value grew from US$670.4m to $1bn, while the price of meat grew from $1,004 per ton to $1,136 per ton during the period. Of the meat imports during the ten-month period, 794,700 tons originated outside Eastern Europe, reported the Central News Agency quoting a report by the Moscow Times.
