Russian retailer O’Key said today (10 July) that second-quarter sales grew by almost one-quarter, driven by increased selling space.

The firm said that second-quarter sales rose by 23.5% to RUB27.2bn (US$824.4m). Gains were propelled by store openings. During the period, the group opened two new stores, which equates to a 25.6% y-o-y increase in selling space.

O’Key also booked a 4% increase in like-for-like sales in the three months. However, this is down from like-for-like growth of 12.1% in the first quarter, when the result was boosted by favourable comparatives.
