Russian retailer Seventh Continent has booked an 11% rise in sales year-on-year for the first quarter.
Gross retail sales reached RUB11.47bn (US$343.3m at current rates), based on management accounts.
The growth in sales in ruble terms in the hypermarket format for the quarter reached 39%. The growth in regional sales in ruble terms for the period reached 20% year-on-year.
The average ticket in the company’s stores for the period grew 8% compared with the previous year. Like-for-like sales increased 1.8%.
The company said it saw 3.6% less customers visit the old stores than a year ago.
During the first quarter the company opened a new store in the hypermarket format Nash hypermarket in Moscow.
