Russian dairy giant Wimm-Bill-Dann has acquired Opolie Holding, a milk processor in the Vladimir region of central Russia.

Wimm-Bill-Dann, which is in the process of being acquired by PepsiCo, said the move is in line with its strategy of expanding its business through buying “successful companies with strong market positions in their respective regions and a sustainable raw-milk supply base”.

The acquisition includes three milk plants in Yuriev Polsky, Lakinsk and Suzdal, which processover 300 tons of milk each day.

“Its modern production facilities and well developed business will bolster our position in Central Russia, where a large proportion of our consumers live, and its high-quality dairy products are a perfect fit for our portfolio,” Wimm-Bill-Dann vice president Silviu Popovici said today (2 February).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
