Science in Sport, a London-based manufacturer of nutrition products for athletes and gym goers, has appointed James Simpson as finance chief to replace Elizabeth Lake.

Simpson, who was most-recently operational finance director at online fashion retailer ASOS Plc, will join the listed-business on 26 September and will also sit on the board of directors, according to a statement filed with the London Stock Exchange. He has also served at beverages companies Britvic and Cadbury Schweppes, supermarket chain Tesco, cosmetics business L’Oreal, oil major Royal Dutch Shell, and auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers.

John Clarke, the non-executive chairman of Science in Sport, said: “We are delighted to welcome James as chief financial officer of Science in Sport at an exciting time in the group’s development. James brings a wealth of financial experience gained in the e-commerce and consumer sectors, particularly in the planning and management of international growth. We look forward to working with James as we continue to deliver our international growth strategy.”
