Seneca Foods is to offload a fruit processing facility in California to local co-operative Pacific Coast Producers.

The US packaged fruit and veg supplier said it was selling its site in Modesto. According to an SEC filing, Pacific Coast Producers is paying US$175m, lus the assumption of some liabilities, for the site.

The deal is expected to close in 60 to 75 days, Seneca said on Monday (23 March).

Pacific Coast Producers, based in Lodi, processes and packages fruits and tomatoes for retail, foodservice and industrial customers under private labels. It has plants in Lodi, Woodland and Oroville.
