Tesco has appointed Martin Dlouhý as chief executive of its Slovakian business following the departure of former chief Stefan De Loecker.
De Loecker tendered his resignation in order to “pursue other opportunities outside the company”, a Tesco spokesperson told just-food today (15 May).
“Stefan has done a fine job leading our Slovakian business and will be working with Martin on a handover in the weeks ahead,” Gordon Fryett, regional CEO for its Tesco’s central European operations, said.
Dlouhý joined Tesco four months ago and Fryett said he has “recently completed” an “intensive induction” into the group.
“He… brings with him a wealth of experience from Metro and McDonald’s in a range of functions across many markets. Prior to his corporate career, Martin ran his own company supporting foreign investors in entering the Central European market,” Fryett said.
Dlouhý’s time at Metro Group included stints at its operations in central and Eastern Europe, as well as India. He left the German retail giant last year.
