SPAIN: Auchan’s Sabeco posts 2002 turnover up 6.8%
Spanish supermarket chain Supermercados Sabeco, a subsidiary of French retailer Auchan, has posted 2002 turnover of €868.3m (US$935.0m), a 6.8% increase year-on-year. Sabeco’s sales volume for 2002 was below its target of €900m. Sabeco increased its cash flow by 24.2% year-on-year in 2002 and now has over 6,000 employees in 117 outlets, reported the Spanish News Digest.

The company said it plans to invest €59.7m in the opening of 20 stores in 2003. In 2002, Sabeco invested €45.2m in the opening of 12 stores.
