Spanish retailer Bon Preu is in talks to sell a number of local Intermarché outlets it owns outside Catalonia.

Bon Preu bought the chain from French retail group Les Mousquetaires last year, however the firm said today (12 May) that it is now negotiating the sale of the stores it acquired outside of its home region of Catalonia.

“We are in the process of selling but we have not finished yet,” a spokesperson for Bon Preu told just-food. “We expect to complete by the end of May. We are currently in the process of negotiations.”

The retailer has around 21 stores outside of Catalonia and 30 within the region.

Bon Preu declined to comment on who it was in negotiations with, however a local report this week suggested the company is in “advanced talks” with Carrefour and German chain Lidl.
