Spanish food group Campofrio has booked an increase in first-half profits, boosted by sales from Fiorucci, the Italian group it acquired in April last year.

In the six-month period, earnings amounted to EUR3.5m (US$4.3m) compared to EUR1m recorded last year.

EBITDA climbed 8.2% to EUR70.9m, while sales reached EUR834.9m, a 9% increase on the prior-year period.

Campofrio attributed the increase in sales to a “successful” pricing campaign in 2011 as well as recent innovation.
