French prepared salads group Florette is to start producing its salads range on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria later this year.

The firm said today (25 October) that construction of a new facility on the island is due to be completed in the coming weeks and that commercial production is expected to start on 1 December.

Florette believes the expansion to Gran Canaria will allow it to improve “service and quality” to customers in the region by being able to sourcing local raw materials.

The Ingenio-based facility will have the capacity to produce around 2m bags of Florette salad per year.

Florette said it hopes the new facility will enable the Canary Islands to be the main provider for its fresh-cut salads range.
