Spanish confectioner Natra has created an international chocolate subsidiary in a bid to cut costs and boost its position in the confectionery market.

Natra Chocolate International will be the sales and distribution platform for its consumer products division.

In the first stages, it will manage the company’s operations in markets including Germany and southern and central Europe. At a later stage, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK, as well as other markets, will be added gradually.

Natra said the move will boost commercial synergies within its consumer products division with regard to sales, logistics and distribution, marketing and administrative management.

“This way, all the sale and distribution processes of the different types and varieties of bars, chocolates, spreads and tablets, including the logistics of the same, are to be merged into a single platform, thus avoiding duplication and economic and organisational inefficiencies,” Natra’s secretary to the board of directors, Ignacio López-Balcells, said.

Under the reorganisation, Natra’s operating subsidiaries in Spain and France have been moved to Natral Chocolate International.
