French dairy group Senoble has confirmed to just-food it is building a second production plant in Spain.
Located in Talavera de la Reina, around 100km south-west of Madrid, the plant is expected to enter service in June 2014, employing 200 staff.
Senoble has not disclosed financial details of the investment but reports put the figure at EUR55m.
A second plant is required as a result of Senoble’s existing Spanish plant, situated in Noblejas, being unable to accommodate growing demand for its products in the country, Senoble said.
The Noblejas plant opened in 2002 and produces 200,000 tonnes of yogurts and milk desserts annually. The new plant will increase that output by 100,000 tonnes.
Senoble posted a turnover of EUR1.1bn in 2012. It also has plants in France, the UK, Slovakia and Italy.
