
Spanish fruit and vegetable producer bodies Coexphal and Ecohal are in talks to merge, a move they say will create one of the largest produce organisations in Europe.
A deal would create a business generating EUR2.4bn in annual sales.

Coexphal, which markets the produce of 9,500 farmer-members, is based in Almeria. It has annual sales of EUR1.58bn.
Ecohal, based in Spain's south-western region of Andalusia, comprises 19 companies based in Almeria and Granada. The organisation generates EUR850m in sales a year.
"This integration will allow all companies in the horticultural sector in Almeria and Granada to work in the same direction, defending the same interests," a joint statement read.
