In an all-US deal, Missouri-based organic spices and seasonings company Red Monkey has acquired San Francisco Salt Company for an undisclosed sum.

Red Monkey is owned by private equity firm San Francisco Equity Partners (SFEP).

San Francisco Salt Company is a provider of speciality salts. Launched in 2002, the company supplies sea salt, Himalayan salt, Epsom salt and Dead Sea salt products, in both retail and bulk sizes.  The company distributes its products through multiple channels to both the gourmet and personal care end markets.

Scott Bolonda, CEO of Red Monkey Foods, said: “San Francisco Salt Company’s products are consistently loved by consumers as evidenced by the company’s impressive growth.

“We look forward to bringing Red Monkey’s substantial distribution, innovation and manufacturing resources to this partnership and to rolling out premium store brand and branded salt programmes with our retail partners.”

Scott Potter, chairman of Red Monkey Foods and managing partner of SFEP, said: “San Francisco Salt Company is an ideal acquisition for Red Monkey Foods and we are confident that the Red Monkey team will further accelerate the growth of the company’s products in both the food and personal care markets.”
