Swedish confectioner Cloetta has announced plans to launch a range of Fairtrade chocolates called Cloetta good.
The line will include four varieties – milk chocolate, mint crisp, hazelnut and cashew with cranberries – and will be made from fairtrade certified chocolate.
“Our introduction of fairtrade-labelled chocolate is an expression of our desire to combine good flavour with a good cause,” said Cloetta’s CEO Curt Petri.
Petri added that Cloetta good has received “excellent” ratings in taste tests, where is was also perceived as an “interesting” product.
A spokesperson for the company told just-food that the company believes the launch coincides with a growing demand for ethically-sourced products, in spite of the economic downturn.
“People are increasingly aware of where the chocolate they buy comes from. Cloetta good aims to meet this demand, which we see as growing for some time to come,” the spokesperson insisted.
