Swedish confectioner Cloetta is to cut around 28 jobs at its facility in Ljungsbro.

The employees affected will be production staff, the firm said today (2 September) and is a result of a fall in volume following the de-merger from Fazer in 2008.

Fazer has, during 2010 and will, in early 2011, take back the production of certain products to its factories in Finland.

Meanwhile, Cloetta said it has made significant investments in hardware at its Ljungsbro facility, which is expected to result in increased productivity.

“With this adaptation of the workforce are prerequisites for continued competitive activity,” said Cloetta’s president and CEO Curt Petri. “It is of course very sad to come with that letter. We will now continue the negotiations initiated as soon as today to give our employees more detailed information.”
