Sweden-based retailer ICA has today (19 October) appointed Per Strömberg as CEO.
Strömberg, 47 succeeds Kenneth Bengtsson and will assume his duties on 16 April next year. Bengtsson, who announced his resignation in April, is leaving the company after 11 years as CEO.
Strömberg most recently served CEO for food, energy and agriculture group, Lantmännen, where he led the group’s strategy and earnings improvement programme. He has also held international positions with US giant Kraft Foods including CEO of the Swedish operations and CEO of Kraft Denmark.
“Per Strömberg has a solid track record in managing successful food businesses and is an accomplished leader, which is shown not least by his achievements at Lantmännen,” said ICA chairman Claes-Göran Sylvén.
ICA has around 2,150 of its own and retailer-owned stores in Sweden, Norway and in the three Baltic states. Dutch retail giant ICA owns a 60% stake in ICA.
